MSQM Case Study
The future of business education
NYU Stern's MS in Quantitative Management is the first fully US online Masters in Management degree. In addition to my role as a program development and production leader, I wrote, produced, and directed a series of short marketing videos. "Dream" was targeted toward working professionals who don't have formal business education but who want to advance their business careers.
NYU Stern's first online degree
For its first fully online degree program Stern chose the data focused Masters in Quantitative Management.
The intensive 20 month Master's in Management is an MBA core designed for working professionals using a block calendar.
There are limited synchronous requirements to accommodate many schedules and time zones, the program's key differentiators.
Leadership: I proposed a plan for creating online courses based on work we had pioneered in the Learning Science group of the school's Innovation Lab. Our team was assigned to produce the entire program, using our distinctive design language and the highest learning standards.
Stern recruited its most renowned faculty leaders to author the curriculum for this flagship program.
The program was allocated the time and budget to create bespoke courses that made few compromises in overall design and learning effectiveness
Using a Universal Design approach, all learning media was designed to exceed the University's accessibility requirements.
Vision: I was responsible for the launch meetings with each professor in the program, the ideation process, and for implementing research based learning standards from the outset.
Designed for effective outcomes
Built by a team with many talents
I recruited a diverse team of writers, artists and filmmakers who worked alongside educational technologists and coders.
A talented international group of editors and animators supplemented our New York City staff.
Many distinctive features of the course design were contributed by NYU Student Fellows who were mentored on the project.
Collaboration: Responsible for the building of every course through Quality Assurance, I directly developed the Leadership, Corporate Finance and Marketing courses in partnership with the deans and department chairs who authored and taught these core business courses in the inaugural cohort of the program.
For this significant initiative, a marketing campaign with rich multimedia content was coordinated.
I conceived and produced the multimedia marketing materials to appeal to non-business majors and working professionals.
Our materials were used in targeted marketing, social media and traditional media generating a better than expected response.
Connection: Having received high ratings from students, and exceeding our learning targets, the program is now a significant revenue generator for the school having increased enrollment 500% from its initial cohort. A new generation of data literate leaders is now shaping how businesses and organizations endeavor to change.
